SHOCKING UNTOLD STORY: Why Police Arrest 181 Election Observers In Imo

The 181 members were drawn from Osogbo, Osun State, for ‘training and re-orientation’ in Owerri before heading to Anambra for ‘monitoring’ the Saturday’s election in the state. However, according to some allegations, the 181 members of the Equity and Justice organisation weren’t necessarily heading to Anambra for ‘election monitoring’ . Some reliable resources claim that the arrested members of the Equity and Justice organisation were sponsored by a South-West APC governor and were headed for various strongholds of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State to document envisaged electoral fraud to be perpetuated by the party. “Those people were sponsored by Gov. Rauf Aregbesola to document photo, video and paper evidence of the fraud to be perpetuated by APGA. “If you remember, it was such documents that helped Ogbeni (referring to Gov. Aregbesola) win is mandate at the Election Petition Triunal” It was further revealed by the source that “on their arrival in Owerri, the PDP candidate in Anambra Tony Nwoye, got wind of their mission and alerted The Presidency who mobilized The Nigerian Police Force to sweep on the ‘election observers’. Another source told the journalists that the Osun governor is frantically working to secure the release of the persons arrested by the Imo police command. Briefing journalists in Owerri, the Principal Lawyer at Nnudum Njoku Chambers, Mr. Soronnadi Njoku, lamented that all the efforts to make the police release his clients failed. Njoku, who was corroborated by the Secretary of the Coalition of the group, Mr. Belo Adebayo, insisted they neither carried any election materials nor arms, as alleged by the CP, adding that they had only materials to work with, including their INEC issued identity materials. Njoku challenged the police to proof that it was wrong for the arrested persons to have their accommodation, feed and prepare fully in Owerri before proceeding to Anambra, stressing that the decision also contributed in the robust economy of Imo State. CP, Katsina had Thursday night paraded the 181 persons, after their arrest, accusing them of possessing riffles, live ammunition, fake INEC voters’ cards, and being sponsored by politicians.
