Chelsea boss Mourinho says Manchester City are favourites for Premier League title

Forget Arsenal or Manchester United it's the Citizens that lead the way. Jose Mourinho likes to stir things up through the media and the Chelsea manager has now declared that Manchester City are favourites for the Premier League title. This is despite the fact that Arsenal currently lead the race and the Blues themselves are the next closest rivals, suggesting these could be mind games from the 50-year-old. "I don't think we can speak about favourites but we can say that one team is top of the league and some are a little bit far [behind] but I keep thinking that all the six teams are title contenders," Mourinho was quoted by Sky Sports. "I keep saying the team with more responsibilities to win it, because their squad is quite unique (sic), is Manchester City." It is widely believed however that City have the best squad in the division and their displays against Manchester United, Norwich City and Tottenham Hotspur this season help to further that point. Yet losing away to the likes of Cardiff City, Aston Villa and Sunderland also shows that there is still fragility within the team. Likewise when Mourinho suggests they have a responsibility to do well - presumably after spending so much money on new players - there is a certain amount of hypocrisy as the west London club are right up there in terms of financial outlay. After a disappointing defeat midweek to FC Basel in the Champions League, the Portuguese maestro's side bounced back on Sunday with a win over Southampton and they face the Black Cats in their next match on Wednesday.
